Shaon praises Dhaka Attack slamming Farooki

Meher Afroz Shaon, the wife of late novelist Humayun Ahmed, is making it clear how she feels about the two long-anticipated films. After the latest release Dhaka Attack hit the theaters, Shaon showered the film with praise while taking a shot at director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, who allegedly misrepresents Shaon in his next venture Doob.

Dhaka Attack, which was released on 6th October, is still creating buzz, as it has fared well both critically and commercially. Actress-turned-director Shaon, who watched the film with her friends, took to Facebook to post her review. A mesmerized Shaon wrote on her Facebook profile, "I've absolutely loved the film."

Taking a jab at Farooki, she wrote, "The director made this film for the mass, not to attend foreign film festivals with the actress. It did not try to buy the cine reviews of foreign magazine. Neither did it copy some Tami film, nor was it based on someone's life."

Notably, upcoming film Doob, allegedly based on the life of Humayun Ahmed and the controversies regarding him, has received great reviews from a couple of internationally renowned magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter, Screen Daily, Variety etc. Not only it got positive reviews from American critics, the film also managed to bag a number of awards at different film festivals.

Shaon went on to praise the director, saying, "Hats off to Dipankar Dipon for trying to make a film of international caliber with limited tech supplies."

Praising the real police officers who were cast in the film, the 35-year-old actress said, "Their acting was clean and flamboyant, thanks to the director. ABM Sumon, along with the tested talent Shatabdi Wadud, were fantastic in their roles."

Shaon informed that Taskeen Rahman, who plays the role of antagonist Jisan, is an old friend of hers.  "My innocent and simple friend of childhood, Taskin did the unimaginable in his role. You're a born actor, my friend," she said.

Notably Dhaka Attack, which opened to great response at box office, is expected to make more money in the coming days as no recent releases stand as a major competition. Besides, the promotional campaign has been successful to attract the mass as the box office numbers are speaking volumes.

The story centers around Dhaka Metropolitan Police Elite Forces' fierce operation against a terrorist organization, the attack is part of a plot by few foreign intelligence agencies to destabilize the country, in order to destroy the country's defense layers.
