8 BNP-Jamaat activists among 48 held in Narail


Police, in separate drives from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, arrested 48 persons, including eight BNP-Jamaat activists, on various charges from four upazilas of Narail. Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district, reports BSS.

Sources with the district police said, during the drives, Narail Sadar Thana police arrested 17 persons including four activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Lohagara Thana police arrested 17 persons including an activist of BNP and an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, Kalia police arrested seven persons including two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Noragati Thana police arrested seven persons.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

They were sent to jail after producing them before the court concerned, said Superintendent of Police (SP) of the district Sarder Rakibul Islam.
