Alleged drug smuggler killed in gun fight

One drug smuggler was killed in a gun fight with elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Jorarganj under Mirerswari thana in Chittagong at around 4 am early in the morning.  The victim was identified as Mohammad Didar.

Sources said, RAB team had showed signal to two Chittagong bound micro buses for checking. But, violating the signal of RAB, the micro buses crossed the team.

Later, the team chased the micro buses suspecting that criminals might have boarded in the vehicles. At one stage, the miscreants opened fire to RAB team for escaping. In retaliation, the RAB team also fired on the criminals.

The miscreants could manage to escape by a micro leaving one micro bus on the road. RAB team recovered the body of alleged drug smuggler Didar from the micro bus.

Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-7 Lt Colonel Miftah Uddin claimed that drug smuggler Didar was killed in a gun fight with RAB team.  He claimed recovering one foreign made pistol from the side of the dead body of Didar.
