BD can progress like South Korea: Envoy

South Korean Ambas-sador in Dhaka Ahn Seong-doo yesterday said Bangladesh is an important development partner of Korea which they strongly believe can accomplish similar economic progress and development.

He said Digital Bangladesh will pave the way for achieving middle-income country by 2021 and developed one by 2041 with Korea's unremitting support for ICT development.

Both countries will march together to mutual prosperity bearing laps together, he said adding that Bangladesh's remarkable economic growth rate is the clear indication that Bangladesh can achieve its development goals. The Ambassador was addressing the National Day reception at a city hotel on Thursday.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed spoke on the occasion as the chief guest, which was attended by ministers, diplomats, political leaders, business leaders and senior journalists.

He said his country is looking forward to further enhancing and intensifying bilateral ties with Bangladesh. Korea will stay committed to assisting the economic development of Bangladesh, said the Ambassador mentioning that a trade fair titled 'Showcase Korea 2017' will begin in the city on Friday.

He said, "Our friendship will bring more benefits and co-prosperity to the people of our two countries in the years to come."
