The Parliament on Sunday unanimously adopted a condolence motion expressing profound grief at the demise of a former president, a former minister and four ex-lawmakers.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion in the House at the beginning of the 18th session of the current Parliament. They are-former president Abdur Rahman Biswas, former Minister MK Anwar, former lawmakers Sarder Mosha-rraf Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, Mofazzal Hossain and M Mortuza Molla.
The parliament also adopted a condolence motion at the death of wife of Public Administration Minister Shila Islam, personal assistant of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and USA Awami League founding president AM Nurul Islam, eminent sports personality Shamsul Alam Molla, founding vice president of Dhaka South Awami League Freedom Fighter Nozibul Huq Sarder, guerilla of Liberation War Abul Masud Sadek Chullu, eminent nature writer Dwijen Sawrma, leader of anti-british movement Jasim Uddin Mandol, member of Swadhin Bangla Football team Amolesh Sharma and friend of Bangladesh Father Marino Rigon.
The house also expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in terrorist attack on concert in the USA, terrible earthquake in Mexico, truck attack in New York and gun attack in a church in Texas.
A munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls was offered in the House. Bazlul Huq Harun conducted the munajat.The members of the House also stood up and observed a one-minute solemn silence to pay respect to the memories of the deceased.
