400MW power purchase deal signed

Bangla Trac Group recently inked a power purchase agreement for 400 MW with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), the state-owned statutory body, at Mukti Hall of the Bidyut Bhaban in the city.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid was present at the event as chief guest while Secretary of Power Division Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, Chairman of BPDB Engr Khaled Mahmood and Managing Director of Bangla Trac Group Tarique Ekramul Haque were also present at the agreement signing event.

According to the agreement, Bangla Trac Group through its subsidiaries Acorn Infrastructure Services Unit-3 Limited, Bangla Trac Power Unit-1 Limited and Bangla Trac Power Unit-2 Limited will install a 100MW furnace oil-fired power in Jhulda in Chittagong, a 200MW diesel-fired plant in Daudkandi of Comilla and a 100MW diesel-fired power plant at Noapara of Jessore.

Out of this 400MW, HSD 300MW will be added to the National Grid by February 2018 and the rest 100MW HFO is scheduled to be added by May 2018.  Managing Director of Bangla Trac Group Tarique Ekramul Haque signed the agreements on behalf of the project implementing companies.

He expressed his gratitude to the government and BPDB for relying on Bangla Trac Group with the contracts. He also sought necessary co-operation from relevant government authorities for the successful completion of the projects within the stipulated time. Md Aminul Haque expressed his satisfaction over the speedy awarding of the projects and assured to implement the project.
