Two factions of Tabligh Jamaat of Kakrail mosque of Dhaka had been blaming each other for corruption. There were brawling incidents during the last four years due to the long-standing feud. The dispute exploded and several rooms of the mosque were vandalized yesterday.
A leader of Tabligh Jamaat Md Shorful Islam Khan said their 11-member central committee is divided into two factions. Saiyad Wasiful Islam and Hafiz Maolana Jubair lead the groups. The central members had a meeting at the mosque after a long time yesterday. The members discussed several issues at the meeting. During the time, the factions started ping-ponging charges leading to a chase and counter chase. The clash escalated tension in the area.
The deadlock has developed centering Maolana Saad of Delhi. One faction stands for inviting him to next Ijtema in Bangladesh while the other opposes it. Yesterday's clash between the groups began at noon. Ramna police OC Kazi Moinul Islam said they sat with the factions and took elaborated security measures.
It can be noted that previously the meetings were postponed due to monetary dispute and the two groups filed cases against each other. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan had to discuss the issue with the groups.
