Recruiting agency owner shot dead in city

A businessman has been killed after unidentified men barged into his office in Dhaka and opened fire. The incident was reported around 8:30pm yesterday from the capital's upscale neighborhood of Banani, said police. The victim, 55-year-old Siddiq Hossain was involved in manpower export, said Inspector Abdul Matin of Banani police.

"Unidentified men barged into the office of SM Munshi Overseas on the ground floor of House 4 on Road 113 and opened fire leaving Siddiq and three others injured," he told media.

Munshi might have been at loggerheads with the miscreants centering his business, the OC said while talking to journalists. The four were rushed to the United Hospital, where Siddiq succumbed to his injuries, said the police officer, who could not provide identities of the other victims.

"Siddiq was the owner of that firm. We are yet to confirm whether the others were his employees," he said while speaking on the phone from the crime scene.
