Quader asks Khaleda to correct herself

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday urged BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to correct herself before asking others to do so but feared nothing could rectify BNP's misdeeds."History of BNP politics is of killings, arson attacks and looting. Khaleda Zia has committed numerous sins . . . nothing can purify her now," he told a jubilant procession of Jatiya Sramik League in front of Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

Jatiya Sramik League organized the function marking the UNESCO recognition to the historic 7th March Speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as part of the world's documentary heritage. Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Labor and Manpower Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj addressed the function as the special guests with Sramik League president Shukkur Mahmud in the chair.

Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, said BNP will face an alarming situation because of their adherence to negative politics. "If BNP does not take part in the next polls, they will realize it," he observed. About the speech of Bangabandhu, the Awami League general secretary said after the assassination of Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975, a ban was imposed on playing the 7th March speech of Bangabandhu on state-run radio and television.

He said a large number of leaders and workers were tortured for playing the landmark speech of Bangabandhu.
"But the fiery speech of Bangabandhu has now become a property of the world," he added.
Quader said: "Under the leadership Bangabandhu, the country had achieved independence through a bloodstained nine-month long Liberation War. Likewise, the country has now become a role model of development under the leadership of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."
