Stocks witnessed upward trends on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up on higher transactions. The day's trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1,424.36 crore from Tuesday's Taka 1,203.47 crore and the daily trade also rose to 44.68 crore share from 36.65 crore share of the previous session.
The border DSEX of DSE closed the day with 35.17 points up at 6,184.57. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 11.42 points up at 2,212.14 and with 6.65 points up at 1,372.30. At DSE, out of the day's 331 securities, prices of 125 securities closed higher against 174 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Rupali Bank, Monno Ceramics, BGIC, Provati Insurance and Standard Ceramic. The major losing issues were Legacy Foot, MONNOSTAF, Kohinoor, SALAMCRST and Fine Foods.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by Al Arafah Bank, City Bank and First Security Bank.The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 138.15 points up at 19,182.20. At CSE, 265 issues were traded. Of those, 110 closed higher and 136 closed lower.
