Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha is being forced to leave the country with threat. About two and half crore religious minorities are utterly concerned in the situation created centering him. Attempts are being made to malign him.
Advocate Rana Dasgupta, Secretary General of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council made these remarks at a press conferrence at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) auditorium in the city yesterday.
They said, capitalizing the verdict given by the chief justice scrapping the 16th amendment to the Constitution, a reactionary group are trying to deprive the officers-employees of the minority community from promotions bringing their religious identity to the front.
They urged the Prime Minister to investigate whether a group is engaged in the communal plot centering the issue of the chief justice. At the press conference, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council General Secretary Rana Das Gupta read out the written speech. Council's senior presidium member Prof Neem Chand Bhoumick, Kajal Debnath, Advocate Subrata Debnath, Jayanta Sen Dipu, GM Bhoumick, Milon Kanti Dutta, organizing secretary Rabindra Nath Basu, indigenous leader Sanjeeb Drong also addressed the press conference chaired by Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council President Hubert Gomes. Oikya NAP President Pankaj Bhattacharya delivered the welcome speech.
In the written speech, Rana Das Gupta said, among the minorities, SK Sinha has secured one of the top constitutional posts of the country with his talent and efficiency in last 70 years. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had appointed him as the chief justice ignoring the intense opposition of a portion of the ruling party men, he added.
