Bachchu falls sick in 2nd day's quizzing -The Asian Age


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday interrogated for the second day the former chairman of Basic Bank Limited Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu in connection with swindling around Tk 2,200 crore from the state-run bank.
Bacchu left the ACC office after the interrogation without pronouncing any words at 5:15pm while the interrogation started at 10:00am at its office.

Earlier on December 4 when ACC first interrogated him, Bacchu had claimed himself innocent.Bacchu had fallen sick for hypertension during the interrogation and was examined by doctors around 2:00pm. He was interrogated on Monday for the first time while the ACC began questioning the accused in connection with the swindling of the investigation on October 22.

Other Basic Bank directors, including Md Anwarul Islam, Anis Ahmad, Quamrun Naher Ahmed, Prof Kazi Akhtar Hossain, Shakhawat Hossain, Fakhrul Islam, AKM Kamrul Islam, Jahangir Akhand Salim, Shyam Sunder Sikder and AKM Rezaur Rahman, have already been interrogated.

According to an inquiry of Bangladesh Bank, about Tk 4,500 crore was swindled out from Basic Bank during six years while Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachhu served as its chairman.

In September 2015, the ACC filed 54 cases with three police stations in the capital accusing 156 individuals including 26 bank officials.
