Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc yesterday said Bangladesh has set a new record in overseas employment by sending more than 10 lakh workers in 2017.
The number of migrant workers to different countries including Middle-East is increasing day by day due to sincere diplomatic efforts as well as labor friendly intensive monitor by the government, he said.
The minister said this responding to a starred question made by a treasury bench lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury of Bhola-3 in the House here. Bangladesh has been sending workers to 165 countries in the world and around 10,08,525 workers have already sent to different countries in 2017, Nurul Islam BSc said. In the last nine years till December last, he said a total of 51,98,914 Bangladeshi migrant workers have already got employment in different countries, reports BSS.
Apart from this, the government has revised the migration cost for 16 countries. The government is sending women workers to Saudi Arabia with zero migration cost alongside the migration cost for the male workers has been set maximum Taka 1,65,000 for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the minister added.
The maximum migration cost for sending Bangladeshi workers to Singapore has been set Taka 2,62,270 through the recruiting agency. Migration cost for Malaysia has been set Taka 1,60,000, Taka 1,45,780 for Libya, Taka 97,780 for Bahrain, Taka 1,07,780 for United Arab Emirates (UAE), Taka 1,06,780 for Kuwait, Taka 1,00780 for Oman, Taka 1,29,540 for Iraq, Taka 1,00780 for Qatar, Taka 1,02,780 for Jordan, Taka 1,20,780 for Egypt, he added.
Nurul Islam BSc told the House that Taka 1,66,640 has been set for Russia, Taka 1,15,780 for the Maldives, Taka 1,20,780 for Brunei Darus Salam and Taka 1,17,780 for Lebanon.
