Narayanganj City Corpo-ration Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, after undergoing treatment at Labaid Hospitals for four day, would be discharged today. She might get release at noon, said the hospital's spokesperson Saifur Rahman Lenin yesterday.
"The mayor is completely okay now," Lenin observed. Ivy fell sick at her office on January 18, a day after the clash between Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman and her supporters. The clash erupted over eviction of street hawkers, leading to a fierce clash in Narayanganj's Chashara area. She was rushed to the hospital where a five-member medical board was formed.
Primarily the doctors said Ivy suffered a brain haemorrhage and experiencing difficulties in recalling many past events. Asked about the cause of the haemorrhage, the doctor said, "It is very difficult to say. We are not going into that." According to doctors, such patients remain stable. But the problem is that bleeding may start again within three to four days in some cases. Ivy was also diagnosed with injuries in her leg that got swollen.
