The festivity centering Pohela Falgun, the first day of the spring season, touched the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) also. Inspired by the season of freshness, many parliamentarians appeared in the House wearing colorful attires and flowers. The color of spring is yellow, also known as the 'Basanti' color.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was in the chair yesterday with yellow saree. A total of 36 female MPs, including directly elected and from the reserve seats, was present in the House till the break of Magrib prayer. Of them, 35 were in yellow saree.
Meantime, Whip Iqbalur Rahim and MP Pankaj Debnath were in yellow panjabi. MPs from the Treasury bench Meher Afroz Chumki, Simeen Hussain Rimi, Fazilatun Nesa Bappy and Nasima Ferdushe also wore yellow saree. Jatiya Party MP Rowshan Ara Mannan also was in yellow at the parliament. Besides, staff and employees of the House preferred T-Shirt, Panjabi and Saree while the common color tone was yellow.
Additional Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Farida Parvin said there was no official order in this regard. However, many of their colleagues chose 'Basanti' color garments. Some of them were also seen taking selfie and group photos.
