Lawmakers yesterday said the country is progressing with a target to realize the five fundamental rights of the people and the country has already set a role model of development under the present government.The country is progressing ahead under the leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina to achieve the five fundamental rights of the people, they said.
Taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the President's address to the House, they commended the present government of Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh has already achieved food autarky and achieved 3rd position in vegetable production and 2nd position in fish production and the country is progressing in all the development indicators, said treasury bench member Begum Shamsunnahar Begum. In primary education, the country has achieved 100 per cent enrolment in primary education and government is distributing over 35 crore text books among the students of the primary schools across the country every year, she said.
Highlighting the importance on technical education, State Minister for Education Kazi Keramat Ali said the government has taken initiative by giving highest importance on promoting technical education as technically expertise manpower has highest demand in abroad.
Expressing his hope, whip Shahiduzzaman Sarker said "Bangladesh will be a developing country within March, this year and would be a developed country by 2041." About significant development in electricity sector, he said none of the past governments availed to specify when the country would come under electricity coverage, but only the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has specified that country would come under electricity coverage within December 2018.
The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech highlighting the success stories of the government and guiding the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity.Earlier, they paid a rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh. Opposition member Nurul Islam Milon of Comilla-8, Shahanara Begum, treasury bench member Chobi Biswas, also addressed in the thanks giving motion.
