A squad of RAB-2 arrested him along with marine engineer Nazmul Islam Shawon, 26, from Sonali Bank Crossing under Tejgaon Shilpanchal police station in the evening on Monday.RAB-2 Commanding Officer Lt Col Anwar Uz Zaman said, acting on a tip-off, they conducted the raid. The arrestees joined the JMB in 2015. Of them Shawon is a marine engineer. RAB personnel also seized two machetes, 724 US dollars and some fanatic religious books from their possessions.
During primary interrogation, Labu said that he previously worked as bus and truck helper and at laundry shop. He currently works also as a day wager and rickshaw-puller. Although he was enrolled in a madrasa, he could not complete the academic career.
Previously he was an activist of the student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. On the other hand, Shawon got involved in militancy in 2015. Shawon used to circulate radical online materials to the youths to lure them to the banned outfit.
