"As we failed to communicate, don't know how 'Ma' (Khaleda Zia) is doing. Police have barred us," Afroza Abbas vented anger at old jail gate at Nazimuddin Road yesterday. The Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal President brought three baskets of fruits for the BNP chief. Permission from the prison authorities is a must to visit any inmate. Although she even did not seek any authorization, the female BNP leader washed of her hands by blaming police to the reporters.
The selfie part came just after. The female BNP leaders looked quite happy and they got busy in taking photos with Afroza Abbas! The 25 to 30 BNP leaders and activists, led by Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal General Secretary Sultana Ahmed, came to the jail gate at around 2:30pm. They brought sapodilla, apple, grape and pear.
They walked to the police barricade and rejected by the police. The conversation lasted around two minutes and they headed towards Nazimuddin Road to talk with the reporters. And Afroza Abbas answered: "No, we did not take any permission." Previously on Saturday, female BNP activists went to deliver fruits to the party chief.
They had to return as they also had no permission. Prison authority sources said that Khaleda Zia is not a usual inmate.According to the jail code, if any inmate's family members bring any food, those are tested prior to serving the prisoner. Moreover, only family members get priority to meet the prisoner.Khaleda Zia has been awarded five-year imprisonment by a special court on February 8. She was taken to the old jail at Nazimuddin Road and since had been provided with special facilities.
