The newly appointed head coach Frederick Martin wants to develop archery with this vision that his new structuring plans will take Bangladesh to the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Germany's Frederick stated his hopes and aims during a signing ceremony with Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) held yesterday at BOA auditorium in Dhaka. The head coach said, "My goal is Tokyo 2020 Olympics. I will try my best to prepare the youngsters for the qualification round."
The federation has made a five year contract with Frederick Martin as a major step of the ongoing project 'Teer- Go For Gold' sponsored by the City group.
BAF Secretary General Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, who was the representative of BAF during the signing ceremony, thinks the skilled head coach will motivate the players. He said, "We will provide him all the supports and requirements. We initially appoint him for five years but the contract may extend in near future."
The City Group CEO Shoeb Md Asaduzzaman was also present during the function. He said, "Our target is to push the game to another level. The City group signed up to collaborate with Bangladesh Archery Federation for next five years as a part of preparation to achieve Olympic success. A high profile coach appointing was its first step."
"Mr Frederick will get 5000 US dollar per month for first year. We also offer him accommodation, vehicle and medical insurance," added Asaduz-zaman.
The coach Martin begins his training program on February 14 at Shahid Ahsan Ullah Master archery training stadium in Tongi. Martin expressed his satisfaction and said, "The infrastructure of archery is so impressive. Federation is helpful and the young players are so talented."
Martin brief his 5-year plans through a powerpoint presentation. He said, "I think my work is to develop the structure in Bangladesh. Young and talented players attracted me to work with them. I will launch talent haunt, new coaches training program and other necessary events."
