Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) celebrated its 44th founding anniversary through a colorful program at its Nandan Mancha on Monday. The program began with releasing balloons and performance of a new national band party.
At the program, noted dance artistes Laila Hasan, Minu Haq, Zinnat Barkatullah, Doly Iqbal, Fatema Kashem, Nilufar Wahid Papri, Sultana Haidar, Selina Hossain and Dr Nigar Sultana participated in a group inaugural dance performance.
In the second phase, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended a discussion as chief guest, while former Director General of BSA Kamal Lohani and Mustafa Monwar were present as discussants at the program.
Presided over by Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ibrahim Hossain Khan was present as special guest. After the discussion, a documentary on the first Director General of BSA Mostafa Nurul Islam was screened at the event.
In the cultural segment, folk artistes of BSA presented group dances with the songs 'Sob Loke Koy Lalon Ki Jaat Songsare' and 'Monchora Porechhe Dhora'. Artistes of BSA also presented a puppet show. Manipuri dance led by Tamanna Rahman, Bharatnatyam by Shukla Sarkar, Kothakoli by Lubna Marium and Odissi dance by Benazir Salam Sumi were performed at the event.
Besides, Ruposhi Momtaz played violin, while BSA's trainer group presented classical dance, child group of BSA rendered chorus song, small ethnic group performed an indigenous dance, Kangalini Sufia rendered folk song, dance troupe of BSA performed a group dance with the song 'Basanta Batase Soigo.'
