Stocks closed the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges. The broader DSEX of the DSE closed the week with 107.39 points down at 5,720.60.
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 27.72 points down at 2,116.10 and with 24.25 points down at 1,348.75 respectively.
Out of the 341 issues traded on DSE, 54 gained against 270 losing issues. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 25.79 per cent to Taka 275.99 crore and the average trade volume fell by 13.47 per cent to 8.13 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up.
The top five gainers of the week were CAPM IBBL, Islamic Mutual Fund, CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund 01, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, ICB Employees Provident Mutual Fund and City Bank.
The major losing issues of the week were Shyampur Sugar Mills, LankaBangla Finance, Zaheen Spinning, Reliance Insurance and United Insurance Company. The top five turnover leaders were Monno Ceramic Industries, Queen South Textile Mills, IFAD Autos, BRAC Bank and Mercantile Bank. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down with its major CASPI index ending 345.01 points lower at 17,655.65.
