Biplab Deb, newly elected Chief Minister of Indian state Tripura has said that internet was invented during the Mahabharata era which was 400 BC.
Biplab Deb said on Wednesday that Sanjay in Mahabharata described the battles clearly while he was far away from the battlefield which proves that satellites and internet were available during those years.
The foreign countries claim that they have invented internet but it was actually invented in India many centuries ago, Biplab Deb said. He added referring to India, "It is the country where science and technology prevailed millions of years back." Biplab Deb made these remarks in Agartala while inaugurating a workshop.
It may be added that Mahabharata is an epic which is well-known to people across the world. It has been translated into different languages as it is considered a masterpiece. On the other hand, Calcutta-based scientific writer and senior journalist Pathik Guha said about Biplab Deb's comments on the invention of internet, "Talking about these things means to give them higher importance."
