AMTOB wants VAT exemption on mobile internet

The Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh has proposed a number of changes to taxation rules and regulations, including reduction of appeal fee for any disputed tax issue and withdrawal of all sorts of taxes on mobile phone internet. The proposal was raised by the AMTOB leaders in a pre-budget discussion held at the NBR (National Board of Revenue) auditorium recently.

AMTOB leaders proposed for VAT exemption on imported 4G mobile phones too. Secretary General of AMTOB T.I.M Nurul Kabir said, In case of reducing tax rate on internet usage in mobile phones, overall internet usage will get increased across the country.

Resultantly, new companies will get established and government can get VAT from them. Considering these proposals placed in the meeting, NBR Charman Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said- We are thinking of your proposals and also going through the logics behind them. But, all of you please clear all the dues of NBR. Still you have to pay a lot for VAT and taxes.
