Ashuganj Upazila Administration evicted at least one hundred illegal shops from Dhaka-Sylhet Highway area on Tuesday. -AA Ashuganj upazila administration evicted at least one hundreds of illegal shops from Dhaka-Sylhet highway side to reduce gridlock in the area on Tuesday.On the other hand shop owners complained that no time was given to them for taking away things.
Ashuganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shahina Akhter said, traffic congestion in rail gate area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway causes sufferings to passengers and local people of Ashuganj upazila.
For this reason and on the basis of the decision of the upazila law-order committee more than hundred shops were evacuated through a mobile court from 10am on Tuesday and monitoring arrangements will be made in accordance with the unanimous decision of Ashuganj law and order meeting so that they cannot build shops in future.
Roads and highways sub-divisional engineer, Redowanur Rahman said, hundreds of shops were illegally constructed on the road and highways in the rail gate area of Ashuganj upazila have been evicted through the mobile court on Tuesday due to not being able to move the shops.
He said alsi, Ashuganj rail gate is an important area. Due to highways in the street there often leads to traffic congestion and accidents. So today it has been evicted.
