Bangladesh celebrates International Day of F4F

Bangladesh, one of the participating countries of the Gazprom Football for Friendship (F4F) Program, joined over 200 cities of the world in celebrating the International Day of Football and Friendship. The celebration was conducted in Bangladesh for the second time, by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), along with MD Golam Rafi Khan and Rafat Shams, the young ambassadors selected to represent the country at the F4F Program in Russia.

The young ambassadors from Bangladesh will join the kids from across 211 countries and regions, in Moscow for the F4F Program conducted between 8th June to 15th June of this year. MD Golam, selected in the role of a young footballer, will join other young footballers from around the world, in Moscow.

The children will be a part of the 32 International Teams of Friendship that play against each other in the Gazprom Football for Friendship International Championship. He will be joined by Rafat Shams, who will act as a young journalist and cover all the local and global activities of the F4F program as part of the International Children's Press Center.

The International Day of Football and Friendship was celebrated by the Bangladesh Football Federation by conducting a special practice session for the young footballer, MD Golam Rafi Khan, at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The young footballer also got an opportunity to interact with the players of the U-18 team of Abahani Limited Dhaka, who gave their best wishes to MD Golam for the program in Russia.

Speaking on the celebration of the International Day of Football and Friendship, Mr. Harunur Rashid, Executive Member of Bangladesh Football Federation said, "We were delighted to provide our support in the celebration of the International Day of Football and Friendship in Bangladesh, as it is our constant endeavor to instill core human values among children. Initiatives such as these, highlights the power of football in breaking barriers, uniting youngsters and creating a positive impact in the local community. We are glad to support our young ambassadors in their efforts to promote these key values."

Meanwhile, the first International Day of Football and Friendship was announced by the Young Ambassadors of Gazprom's Football for Friendship program in 2014. A total of over 500,000 people have taken part in events connected to the International Day of Football and Friendship.
