The Germany Embassy, Dhaka and the German business community in Bangladesh have jointly agreed to establish the German Business Council (GBC), a platform for the German businesses in Bangladesh.
This group will also take the lead to strengthen business relationship between Bangladesh and Germany. This decision has been taken after a meeting between German Ambassador to Dhaka Dr Thomas Prinz and representatives of reputed German companies in Bangladesh held here recently, said the Embassy on Wednesday.
Siemens Bangladesh CEO Prabal Bose, Country Manager of DHL Nooruddin Chowdhury, Managing Director of BASF Sazzadul Hassan, Country Representative of Commerz Bank Tawfiq Ali, CEO of Fichtner GmbH Thomas Holzapfel and Head of Finance of Bayer CropScience Syed Sarwar Moorshid were present at the German embassy during the covenant for establishment of the new GBC.
GBC is the result of initiatives by German private companies in Bangladesh and the aims of this group are to encourage investment in and trade with Bangladesh, as well as to provide a social environment for business networking for the German companies, said the German Embassy.
To support the growth of German businesses in this country, it said, GBC will organise business networking events and will connect businesses with each other.
This group will also take the lead to strengthen business relationship between Bangladesh and Germany, it said. GBC and German Embassy will meet on a regular basis to exchange views and to organize mutual support.
