Cops found involved with drugs won’t be spared: CMP commissioner

No one, not even police officers, found involved with drug trading and related offences, will be speared,  Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said on Wednesday.

“Those who are responsible to prevent spread of drugs, if they themselves get involved, will not be spared at any cost. As long as I’m in duty in this region no one involved with drug dealing will be able to stay secure in their job,” he warned.

Mahbubur Rahman came up with the remarks during a discussion programme held at Chittagong Police Lines.

“Considering the level of crimes involved policemen will be suspended or tougher action will be taken against them. If any police member found assisting any drug dealer or making friendship with them, stern action will be taken against them”, he added.

Otherwise, involved cops will be brought to book if any of them try to trap general people with drugs.

Security in the Chittagong metropolitan area has been ratcheted up severely in anticipation of Eid-ud-Fitr.
