Local lawmaker (Brahmanbaria-5) and Nabinagar Upazila Awami League President Fayzur Rahman Badal has made a clarion call to boycott the rally of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), an ally of the 14-party grand alliance led by the ruling Awami League, to be held in Nabinagar of Brahmanbaira on July 26. JSC central president and information minister Hasanul Haque Inu MP is scheduled to attend the program as the chief guest.
Fayzur Rahman Badal on Monday called upon his party leaders and activists at a press conference at Nabingar Dak Bungalow to boycott the rally as hundreds of posters with a provocative slogan 'Get united to protect the dignity of Nabinagar people' have been pasted in different places of the upazila.
Expressing anger, Fayzur Rahman Badal MP said that I politely want to know to the organizers of the rally for which activities the dignity of Nabingar people has been spoiled in my tenure of four and half years. We made our minds to receive the information minister with flowers. But JSD has tried to create unrest in Nabinagar through circulating such controversial posters with provocative slogans.
Consequently, local Awami League has taken a decision to boycott the JSD rally at an extended meeting. We have also decided that no candidate of grand alliance except Awami League will be accepted. If necessary, it will be informed in writing to Awami League President and Prime Minister Deshratna Sheikh Hasina.
The MP further said, "Every leader and activist of Nabinagar earnestly request to the Honorable Prime Minister to nominate a candidate for Nabinagar constituency from Awami League. Nabinagar Awami League is now united." In response to queries of journalists, Fayzur Rahman Badal said, "I will surely seek nomination in the upcoming general election.
