Four Bangladeshi films to be screened in S Korea

Four much acclaimed Bangladeshi films are going to be screened at the third edition of Seoul-Bangla Film Festival this year. The three-day festival is going to begin today.  The selected four films are- Tauquir Ahmed's 'Haldaa', Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's 'No Bed of Roses' ('Doob'), Akram Khan's 'Khacha' and Giasudding Selim directed film 'Swapnajaal'.

Tauquir Ahmed directed film 'Halda' stars Jahid Hasan, Mosharraf Karim, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and others. The story of the film focuses on the river Halda and the density of the marginalized people's way of living around it.

The river Halda is considered to be the country's largest natural fertility breeding centre of fishes. Mother fisheries lay their eggs here in April or June in new moon or full moon. In the story, the river and its nature, the soil erosion by the rivers and the flow and complicated life of the people living on the river bed have been highlighted the most.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's 'Doob' features famous Indian actor Irrfan Khan and Bangladeshi Nusrat Imroz Tisha. In the freewheeling scenes from a marriage, 'No Bed of Roses' ('Doob'), a celebrity filmmaker leaves his dignified wife of many years and teenage kids to marry a classmate of his daughter's. There's no elaborate murder mystery here, just a tale of human vanity and egotism that turns the life of a middle-class family in Dhaka upside down and fills every member with pain and regret.

On the other hand, the cast of Akram Khan's 'Khacha' includes big names such as Jaya Ahsan, Azad Abul Kalam and Mamunur Rashid, Chadni, Arman Parvez Murad, Kayes Chowdhury, Mahbuba Rezanur, Akram Khan and Sadika Rahman Raisa, among others. 'Khacha', based on Hasan Azizul Haque's short story with the same title, features sufferings of a Hindu family in the then East Pakistan during the partition of 1947.

'Swapnajaal' is a Bangladeshi dramatic and romantic movie released in 2018. This film was written and directed by Giasuddin Selim. A film from the highly acclaimed director of 'Monpura', where starring most popular actress Pori Moni, the story of the film about the love of a young couple.
