Tofail Ahmed
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said BNP could not wage movement of its own and even the party had tried to make partisan the recent student movement for ensuring safer roads.
"The innocent students have waged movement few days back for ensuring road safety. I personally also supported them. But, BNP tried to give that movement a partisan color. BNP could not wage movement of its own," the minister further said.
He was speaking at a discussion as chief guest marking the National Mourning Day at the Bhola Government College. Chaired by College Principal Parvin Akhter, the meeting was addressed, among others, by spouse of the Minister Anowara Ahmed. Tofail, also AL's advisory council member, said had Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman never been born on this soil, Bangladesh would have never emerged as an independent country.
Mentioning that Bangabandhu had spent a total of 4,682 days in prison, he said it was not the Pakistanis who had killed Bangabandhu, rather the killing was done by killers Mostaque and Zia.
The Commerce Minister also urged the youth force and the students to take decisions and preparations for the next general election imbued with the spirit of the War of Liberation.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a science building, a commerce building, an administrative building and a hostel on the college campus. He responded positively to the demands of the students for constructing a hostel and an auditorium on the college campus.
