A total 76 projects were awarded with BASIS National ICT Awards 2018 in over 30 categories for their outstanding contribution to the ICT sector of the digital Bangladesh.Of the 33 winners, 32 will participate at the APICTA Awards-2018, to be held in Guangzhou, China from October 9-13.

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) organized on Thursday the award ceremony for the second time at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in the city. 

Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present as the chief guest while State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak as the special guest. Secretary Sham Shundor Shikdar, Posts and Telecommunication Department and Secretary Zuena Aziz, ICT Division was present as guest of honors. 

Posts, Teleco-mmunications and ICT Mustafa Jabbar said Bangladesh has reached such a level in the ICT sector that many countries and organizations, which did not consider the country as dependable, have been offering billions of dollars.Referring to the World Bank's (WB) loan proposal for the ICT sector, he said the same bank refused to finance the Padma Bridge project, he added.

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, ""About 2 million jobs will be created in the ICT sector by 2021. We are happy that we have a huge population who are still you young. We will have to train them and make them skilled." 

BASIS is working relentlessly to accelerate the growth of Bangladesh's ICT Sector. They have gone through vigorous process to gather, judge, scrutinize projects from all around Bangladesh. The Awardees must feel very proud as it's the most prestigious ICT award in Bangladesh, he added. 

BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said, "In BASIS National ICT Awards innovative and prospective ICT projects of Bangladesh would be recognized. Through a robust judging process the best ones would be selected. These projects depict the wide potential of Bangladesh's ICT sector".

BASIS National ICT Awards 2018 Convener and BASIS Director Didarul Alam said, "the objective of the BASIS National ICT Awards is to provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals, students, entrepreneurs, SMEs and organizations with operations in Bangladesh who have contributed to the development of the Digital Bangladesh initiatives or in building applications and services for the benefit of Bangladesh".
