Brunei has expressed keen interest to develop the existing trade with Bangladesh. They have expressed their interest while a Brunei delegation and the business leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) held a discussion meeting at FBCCI Board Room in the city yesterday.
Permanent Secretary of the Brunei Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry Siti Norishan Abdul Ghafor led the Brunei delegation.
FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) chaired the meeting while FBCCI Directors Sharita Millat, Priti Chakraborty, SM Shafiuzzaman, Md Nizam Uddin, Kohinur Islam, Kazi Belayet Hossain and Hafez Harun-Or-Roshid attended the meeting.
FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) briefed the delegation on the current economic development of the country. Shafiul Islam said Bangladesh has become a business hub since the government is providing all sorts of supports to develop all sectors, including infrastructure and communication.
"Bangladesh achieved consistent GDP growth of over 6 percent during the last couple of years and above 7 percent GDP growth in the past two years," he added.
Mentioning Brunei as a potential business hub in this region, the delegation expressed their interest to take the bilateral relations in a significant height. Bangladesh exported total amount of us$1.11 million to Brunei in 2017-18 and imported the amount of US$ 0.11 mil
