A mobile court in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday convicted two women and sentenced them to different terms of imprisonment for possessing drugs in Akhaura upazila.
Akhaura upazila executive magistrate Mohammad Shamsuzzaman in association with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted a drive in Azampur Rail Station area and arrested Fatem Begum, 30, wife of Sohel Mia and Sarbanu, 45, wife of Sajon Mia of Kasba upazila along with four kilograms of hemp in the early hours of Tuesday.
Later, the mobile court sentenced Fatema to six months jail and fined Tk 5,000, in default to suffer 15 days more in jail. The court also sentenced Sarbanu to one-year imprisonment and fined Tk 10,000, in default to suffer two months more jail.
