Standards of Weights and Measures Bill places in JS

The Standards of Weights and Measures Bill, 2018 was placed at the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to make an overall global acceptance of the products manufactured locally maintaining competitiveness of the products at the local and international market.

Industries Minister Amir Hossen Amu yesterday placed the bill in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. Placing the bill, the Industries minister said the proposed act will create an overall acceptance of the local products at the local and international market.

The proposed act will be enacted through annulling the Standards of Weights and Measures Ordinance, 1982, he added.

Even the proposed act will help to maintain the quality and weights of the products and it will easier to get certificate for the products issued by the international organizations, the minister said. The minister urged the House to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for providing report within fifteen days.
