47 held in Satkhira

Police, in special drives arrested 47 persons including four activists of Jamaat-E-Islami and two activists of BNP from eight upazilas of Satkhira in last 12-hour ending at 8am on Saturday morning. Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.

During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 14 persons including four activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, Kalaroa Thana police arrested six persons, Tala Thana police arrested five persons including two activists of BNP, Kaliganj Thana police arrested six persons, Shyamnagar Thana police arrested four persons, Assasuni Thana police arrested six persons, Patkelghata Thana police arrested three persons and Debhata police arrested three persons.

The arrested people are accused in several cases, including charges of subversive activities, filed with different police stations in the district. The arrested were sent to jail. Police said they will be active to prect any activities related to drug business.
