Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists yesterday allegedly swooped on the quota reformists at Milon Chattar of Dhaka University (DU) campus, just after the reformists concluded a demonstration seeking retake of 'Gha-Unit' intake test.
"Some ten BCL leaders and activists attacked us around 1:30pm," said the protestors. At least three leaders of the of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, a platform that leads the quota reform movement, got injured in the assault.
They are Ratul Sarker, Faruk Hossain and Ataullah. Meantime, witnessed narrating the hit said BCL DU Shaheed Sergent Zahurul Hall leader Ali Rimon, Soliman Hossain, Bangabandhu Hall unit leader Rafid Nafi were seen beating the quota protestors up.
Deploring the incident, Hasan al Mamun, convener of the platform said: "We hope BCL will take steps against the attackers." DU BCL president Sanjit Chandra das meantime told the press that he was unaware of the incident.
