AFD to host ghazal night
A musical program titled 'An Evening of Ghazal' by ghazal singer Manzurul Islam Khan will be held at Alliance Française Dhaka (AFD) on Friday. AFD will host the program from 6.30 pm to 8 pm.
Classical singer Manzurul Islam Khan began his musical odyssey at the Chhayanat Sangeet Vidyatan and completed advanced courses in classical music as well as MMus from the University of Mumbai. He received talim (training) from some of the most revered doyens of music: Ustad Azad Rahman, Ustad Sanjib Dey, Ustad Aminul Haque, Ustad Amjad Rahman, Ustad Usman Khan, Ustad Sanjoy Chakrabarty.
He was also a student of the Ghazal King - Jagjit Singh, albeit for a short time. Khan intends to continue singing as long as he can and contribute to the artistry of Banglaghazals bringing in a variation in its gaayaki or rendition altogether. The event is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis.
