Alleged pirate killed in 'gunfight' with RAB

A man was killed in a 'gunfight' with Rab at Cox's Bazar Pekua Magnma Launchghat Channel on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Tareq (30) son of Abdus Shukkur of North Dhurang area in Kutubdia. Rab alleged that he was top pirate According to sources, a gun fight took place at  around 4:45 am on Wednesday.

RAB sources claimed recovery of a foreign pistol and two one shooter, 23 rounds of bullets and four rounds of blankets from the spot. RAB Cox's Bazar camp's company commander Major Mehdi Hassan alleged that the Tareq had recently abducted some fishing boats from the sea.

He demanded ransom from the owners.A group of pirates, including Tariq, came to Pekua to collect the ransom. A patrol team of RAB went on a raid in the area.After getting their presence, the pirates fired on RAB targets. When the RAB shot back for self-defense, the pirates fled away, leaving Tareq.

The Rab members captured him and brought to  Upazila Health Complex. Doctors declared him dead. The source  alleged that Tarek was involved in the sea boat robbery for a long time. 

Major Md Mehdi Hassan said that there are four cases of robbery, and holding illegal against him. Tareq's body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
