The Jatiya Oikya Front's key leader Dr Kamal Hossain thinks the government has fallen into uncertainty when the Oikya Front joined the election. He said this while speaking with journalists at the inaugural ceremony of the Oikya Front's new office at the capital's Bijoynagar yesterday.

Calling upon the media to keep vigil against any "unlawful activities" by law enforcers during the forthcoming parliamentary election, Dr Kamal said, "If you see any irregularities by police, report it. This responsibility of you (the media) is very important and crucial on the election day."

He also said their alliance will unveil their election manifesto by December 8. Dr Kamal, the president of Gono Forum, a component of the Oikya Front, reiterated his call to the public for "guarding the polling centers" during election.

He said, "Efforts are on to interfere in holding an impartial and independent election, if you (media and people) remain alert and play an active role we'll able to tackle it in many ways." Kamal Hossain said the upcoming national election is very important for the restoration of people's ownership of the country. "People are deprived of their ownership of the country. People must be vigilant to ensure a fair election.

"People, the country's owners, have now no control over the country. That's why unelected people became MPs. We've long been waiting to get rid of it and an opportunity has come to restore people's ownership through the election," he said.
