The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia on Friday observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day on the campus in Kushita to pay tribute to the valiant sons of the land who have dedicated their life for the country's independence.
Marking the day, the university vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag half mast while pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted black flag in front of the university's administrative building around 9:40am.
Later, the teachers, officials, students and employee of the university brought out a shocked rally from in front of the administrative building led by the vice-chancellor around 10:00am.The procession ended in front of the university's central memorial monument after parading main roads of the campus.
Among others, IU pro-VC, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, IUTA president Professor M Mizanur Rahman, proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman, IIER director Professor M Maher Ali, IU English department chairman Professor AHM Aktarul Islam Zill and among others took part on the procession.
The university authorities, IUTA, Bangabandhu Parisad, Zia Parisad, IUJA and different teachers and students associations placed floral wreath to the monument.Earlier, provosts of all the residential halls of the university hoisted national flag half-mast and black flag atop at their respective halls in the morning.
