Investment proposals have increased by 44 percent in first five months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 thanks to an investment-friendly environment in the country. According to the Bangladesh Investment Promotion Authority (BIDA), in the first five months of the current FY, investment proposals worth Tk 578 billion were registered.In the period, some 364 local, 15 foreign and 21 joint ventures companies have got registered.
Kazi M Aminul Islam, Chairman of the BIDA told The Asian Age country's investment environment is passing a good time. As a result, the registration of the investment has increased in recent time. He said the BIDA has also taken several initiated to encourage the investors which are being helpful boost investment proposal.
He said the BIDA has introduced One Stop Service (OSS) centre. Initially they have already signed a contract with six government agencies and offices as part of the launch of the OSS.The BIDA chief said they are going to sign agreements with 30 more agencies and offices. Then the BIDA can provide the OSS in future.
He said the BIDA needs contract with 36 companies for the Oss. They, thereafter, can provide 150 kind of service to investors. Currently, the investors have to wait for one to four years for getting several services. When the centre could introduce fully operational then the investors will get all services within 1 to 45 days, he added.
Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) said from Bangladesh the foreign investors are getting much more return of their investments. A number of multinational companies are working in Bangladesh.
After the successful completion of the government initiatives, the foreign investments will boost. For the increase, foreign investment needs promotional program including country's branding, which could be helpful to development of the country's image, he added.
