Hossendi EZ gets license

Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) gave pre-qualification license  to Hossendi Economic Zone on Monday. The final license will be issued after the feasibility study, according to officials.

The pre-qualification certificate was given at a function organized at the conference room of BEZA. Executive Chairman of BEZA Paban Chowdhury presided over the meeting. Chairman of City Economic Zone Fazlur Rahman, Chairman and Managing Director of Hossendi Economic Zone Shampa Rahman and officials of BEZA were also presented on the occasion.

Hossendi economic zone is being built on 108 acres of land at Hossendi union under Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj district. Initially, Tk 10,000 crore will be spent to establish this zone. In future, this economic zone will be upgraded to 150 acres.

The entrepreneurs have planned to set up 10 industrial units here. Cement, salts and chemicals, ceramic products, ship building industries and a 100 MW power plant will be set up in this economic zone. In terms of communication, this economic zone is located at a very convenient place. Only 25km from the capital and 150 kilometers from the port Chattogram.

Executive Chairman of BEZA Paban Chowdhury said, "The response from local and foreign investors is incredible for the development of the economic zone. 7 private economic zones licenses had already been granted. Government agencies are also working to provide all types of utility facilities including gas, electricity and water for the unit investors in the economic zones," "City Group has kept their commitments and we got tremendous result. I hope that the company will work to maintain their reputation and expand employment opportunities by starting production in full form," he added.

The Chairman of the Hossendi Economic Zone Shampa Rahman said, "Our entrepreneurs have plans to build sustainable and environment friendly industries and several investors from China, Thailand and Japan have already expressed interest to invest in this zone."

"About 15,000 people will get job opportunity to work in these industries," she noted. ?"In this new area, women entrepreneurs will be given priority and special opportunities will be created for them," said Chairman of City Group Fazlur Rahman.
