22 including 11 drug peddlers arrested


Law enforcers, in special drives arrested 22 persons including 11 drug traders from different areas of Dinajpur district in 12-hour drive ending at 8am on Friday morning. Law enforcers also seized 60 pieces of Yaba tablets, 153 bottles of Phensidyl, 350 liters of locally-made liquor and 2,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets during the drives, reports BSS.

Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges. During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested four persons including two drug traders with 350 liters of locally-made liquor, Birampur Thana police arrested three drug traders, Biral Thana police arrested two persons, Kaharole Thana police arrested two persons, Parbatipur Thana police arrested two persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested one person, Ghoraghat Thana police arrested two drug traders with 60 pieces of Yaba tablets and Hakimpur Thana police arrested two persons. Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained four drug traders with 153 bottles of Phensidyl and 2,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets around 7am from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district. Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said. The arrested persons were sent to jail.
