Weekend sees huge crowd

Three-day-long Techshohor Smartphone and Tab Expo (STE) 2019 witnessed a huge crowd on Friday as it was a weekly holiday on the second day of the event.

People from all walks of life gathered at the expo with a view to buying and experiencing the latest editions of smartphones and tablet computers under a single platform. Jannatul Shashi, a ten years old girl, who came with her father, said, "I am very much happy to come here. I will buy a Tab"

Journalist Alamgir Hossain came to the expo with his family members. He said, "I have come to buy a smartphone within my budget as prominent brands are available here." Rezwan Karim, from Narayanganj, visited the expo to experience the latest innovations of all branded smartphones and gadgets. Another visitor, Sabina Mukta found happy after getting favorite gadget including gifts.

Organizers informed that world's renowned and Bangladeshi smart phone and tablet brands will be available in the three-day fair. Meanwhile, mobile brands Huawei, Samsung, Tecno, Vivo, We, GoldenField, Motorola, Nokia, iPhone, UCC, Infinix, Umidigi, DTel, ADA, Maximums and e-commerce platform Priyoshop.com are participated the expo with the latest product. The brands display and sell smart devices, according to the organizers. Besides, there are scheduled to uncover some new smart phones at the expo premises.

There are three platinum sponsors of the fair - Huawei, Samsung and Tecno while Vivo and WE are gold sponsor. Silver sponsors are GoldenField and Motorola and title sponsor is Techshohor.com, leading news portal on technology and telecom issues in the country. Overseas education consulting firm EduMaker has role as partner of the mega event. There are three platinum sponsor pavilions, two gold sponsor pavilions, two silver sponsor pavilions alongside with six regular pavilions and 4 stalls in the fair.

The expo is open for all from 10 am to 8 pm during the fair.  An entry fee for the fair is Tk 20 while specially-enabled ones and school-college goers get free access to the expo.

The participant brands will be offer special on the occasion. Huawei announced maximum 20 percent discount on smartphone and maximum 40 percent discount on accessories marking the three-day expo.

The customers get maximum 12 percent discount on Tecno brand of Transsion Bangladesh while Vivo mobile announced maximum 50 percent waiver on price chart. Customers get free speaker with every purchase of Motorola device. Infinix and Umigidi brands offer maximum 10 percent and 20 percent respectively.

Expo Maker Strategic Planner Muhammad Khan said the participant companies will offer special price cut and gift items during the fair. Earlier on Thursday, Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the expo at Bangabandhu Internat-ional Conference Center (BICC) in the city on Thursday as chief guest.

State Minister of ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as special guest at the event. Highlighting the growing local market, Minister Mustafa said, "We are not importer, now we are smart phone maker also".  Smartphone will become center of all public services soon as the government has focused on innovation in service delivery, said Telecommunic-ations Minister Mustafa Jabbar. Appreciated the expo organizers for contributing in development of smart phone market through mass awareness, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that Bangladesh has a growing smart phone market of over three crore units.

The demand of the smart phone has been increased due to up gradation of connectivity like fourth generation. Among others, Huawei Consumer Business Group Bangladesh Marketing Director Eagle Song, Samsung Mobile Bangladesh General Manager Bomin Kim, Transsion Bangladesh Chief Executive Rezwanul Hoque, Vivo Bangladesh Country Project Manager Angus, Aamra Companies Managing Director Syed Farhad Ahmed,  Smart Technologies Director Shakib Arafat and Expo Maker Strategic Planner Muhammad Khan were present on the occasion.
