Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr Yousef A Al Othaimeen has said the OIC stands ready to extend all possible support to Bangladesh in its endeavors for economic progress and march towards prosperity.
"I look forward to working closely with you (PM Hasina) on issues of mutual interest and concern. The OIC stands ready to extend all possible support to Bangladesh," said the OIC Secretary General in a message congratulating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her re-appointment as Prime Minister of Bangladesh, reports UNB.
He said the clear mandate granted to Prime Minister Hasina by the Bangladeshi electorates is indicative of their trust in her leadership and vision for a developed Bangla-desh. "I'm confident that with your wisdom and proven experience, you'll continue to steer the affairs of your country in the years ahead to realize the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh for peace, unity and development," said the OIC chief.
"On the auspicious occasion of your re-election to the high office of the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh for the third term in a row, I've the honor to extend, on behalf of the OIC and on my own behalf, our heartfelt congratulations and warmest felicitations," said Othaimeen.
The OIC Secretary General also congratulated Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on the occasion of his appointment as Foreign Minister of the of Bangladesh, said the Foreign Ministry here on Thursday night.
"As the top diplomat of Bangladesh, an important OIC Member State active in the international affairs and the current OIC CFM Chair, the OIC looks forward to working closely with you for our shared goals and strengthening joint Islamic action," said the OIC chief in a separate message.
He wished the Foreign Minister a very successful assignment and hoped that under his able leadership together with his experience in diplomacy and international affairs the excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the OIC would grow further in the coming years.
