Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder yesterday said Bangladesh has already achieved food autarky and that is why it does not need to import food grains. "Price of food grains, particularly rice, now remains stable. Besides, good quality of rice is also being supplied through like VGD and VGF," he told journalists after visiting Mohadevpur Upazila godown in the district.
Later, the food minister attended a reception programme organised by the local Awami League (AL). Chaired by Mohadevpur Upazila AL President Md Salim Uddin Tarafder, the function was addressed, among others, by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Mubarak Hossain, District Food Controller Md Kamal Hossen and District Council Member Md Moynul Islam Mayen.
Addressing the function, Sadhan Chandra said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the 21-point election manifesto of AL to change the fate of the country's people. If all work in line with the election manifesto, he said, it is a matter of time to build a Sonar Bangla dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
