Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attends the Awami League's celebration of its landslide victory in the 11th Parliamentary elections at the Suhrawardy Udyan yesterday. -PID Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the people of the country spontaneously gave their verdict in favor of Awami League's manifesto in the December-30 election to free the country from terrorism, militancy, drugs, corruption, hunger and poverty, and ensure peace and development.
The Awami League organized a rally yesterday at historical Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to celebrate landslide victory in 11th Parliamentary election. The rally was resounded with the firm commitments contained in AL's party manifesto while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started delivering her speech.
Prime Minister said people of all walks from all over the country have paid their love and belief in Awami League by casing their vote for Boat. Now, it is time to serve them and fulfill their dream, she said. "It is hard to achieve the victory but much harder to serve the people keeping that victory intact," she said.
"I am asking the public representatives who have been elected to keep in mind that fulfilling the expectations of the people is our responsibility," she said.
She mentioned that the government will work for the socioeconomic uplift of all. "We'll ensure the political rights and improve the living standard of all. We won't look into any party and opinion as each and every citizen of the country is very much important to us," she said.
The Prime Minister noted that the people want to build the country with the Liberation War spirit. "There'll be no room on the soil of Bangladesh for the anti-liberation forces, war criminals, corrupt elements, militants and drug addicts. Bangladesh will be built with the Liberation War spirit."
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reaffirmed to uproot extremism, corruption and mal-governance in order to build a developed Bangladesh in the days to come. Expressing her determination, she said her government will never become hesitant to move the country in right direction despite many challenges the government has to face in future.
Prime Minister has also indicated that Bangladesh must move forward with the spirit of Liberation War. Anti-liberation forces have no place in Bangladesh Earlier Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader read a letter of Sheikh Hasina's honor for being the fourth time prime minister and handed over it to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The victory rally was addressed, among others, by the party's student wing president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, Jubo Mahila League President Nazma Akter, Awami Sechchasebak League President Molla Mohammad Abu Kawsar, Awami Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury, Dhaka South Awami League General Secretary Shah Alom Murad, Dhaka North Awami League General Secretary Sadek Khan MP, ALCWC Member Mirza Azom MP, AL Organizing Secretary Bahauddin Nasim, Joint Secretary Abdur Rahman, Joint Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq, Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim MP, Presidium Member Matia Chowdhury MP, Advisory Council Member Tofail Ahmed MP and Amir Hossain Amu MP with Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
