An alleged yaba trader was killed in a gunfight during the joint operation of BGB-Police in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar yesterday. The deceased Mostaq Ahmad Prakash Moush (35) was the son of Zakir Hossain of Teknaf.
One BGB and three police have also been injured during the gunfight, claimed BGB. They also claimed of recovering yaba from the possession of the victim. The gunfight took place at Jaliyapara area of Teknaf upazila on Sunday.
Teknaf 2 BGB battalion commander Lt Colonel Aashadud-Jaman Chowdhury alleged that the victim Zakir Hossain and his group had fired on the police-BGB. BGB personnel fired to protect the government property. Theinjured BGB members were sepoy Abdul Awal (24), nayek Abdul Alim (28) and policeman Al Amin (21). After some time the situation came under control.
Two patrol groups of police arrested drug trader who were listed by the Ministry of interior. one 1 firearms and empty shell were recovered. When the arrested was taken to Teknaf Upazila Sadar Hospital for treatment, the duty doctor referred him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment. When he was taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, the duty doctor declared him dead.
Teknaf 2 captain of BGB battalion, confirmed the death of alleged drug dealer during the anti-drug campaign and gunfight. A case has been filed with Teknaf Police Station in this regard.
