Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Abida Islam has requested the EPS (Employment Permit System) organizations to establish a “Welfare Fund” to carry out different welfare activities in favour of the Bangladeshi EPS workers.
She made the request while speaking at a seminar organized by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul to exchange views with the Bangladeshi EPS workers on Sunday.
A good number of EPS workers spontaneously participated in the seminar, the Embassy said on Monday.
The Ambassador informed the EPS workers about the joint initiative of the Embassy with Bangladesh Open University (BOU) to introduce HSC Certificate program in Humanities in South Korea from February 2019 to encourage higher education among them.
She suggested the interested candidates to send their applications to the Embassy by January 31, 2019.
First Secretary (Labour) Mokima Begum made a presentation on the difficulties and problems of the EPS workers, ‘Do’s &Don’ts while living in the Republic of Korea including the progress so far made on the issues discussed during the last such Seminar.
She also urged the workers to uphold the positive image of the country a Republic of Korea is important labor market for Bangladesh.
She also suggested them to develop their skills, so that they could earn their livelihood as an entrepreneur upon their return to Bangladesh.
Counsellor (Commerce) Masud RanaC howdhury conducted a lively and interactive session on Entrepreneurship which inspired many.
Later, the Bangladeshi EPS workers informed the Embassy about their different problems and the Embassy tried to resolve them. Towards the end of the program the recommendations made by the EPS workers were noted with due seriousness and importance by the Embassy.
A cultural programme performed by the Bangladeshi EPS workers followed by refreshment with traditional Bangladeshi cuisine was also held.
