"Bollywood movies have always inspired me to make something of myself. As a result, I learnt Martial Arts in school. I kept getting hurt--stitches and scratches were routine, but I won most competitions! I was sure I would end up going to Mumbai and work in action movies! Naturally, my parents started to get worried.
My friends and neighbors would laugh at my dream, because they never thought I'd be able to make a career out of martial arts, but I was too far gone to give up. In 2007, I decided to come to Mumbai. My father gave me Rs.10, 000 because we had no idea how expensive it would be. My friend told me about a place in Kurla, where the rent was cheap. It was a 180 sq foot home and I was sharing it with 7 other men.
I didn't realize what I was getting into. I was bullied in my own home, where these guys would make me wash their vessels after eating. We didn't even have pillows, I would buy a stack of newspapers and use them as a pillow to sleep. Most of my money went in rent, so I ate a 4 Rupee Vada Pav, morning and night. I couldn't afford to eat anything more.
Whenever I saw a BMW while I was walking on the road, I'd go mad-- I wanted to have that car someday!Every day, I went to production houses, but action directors there would criticize me. I had to find another job in the meanwhile to survive. After 3 months, I got a job as a computer operator, and finally, I moved out of that house but continued to pursue martial arts.
3 years later, I've hired 3 people, and also have 80 members at my gym! Business is good and guesses what...I finally even got my dream car! And one of those 3 girls is going to be my life partner! It's true what they say… if you chase your passion, success will start chasing you! So just hold tight."
